Founded in 1986 by Graham Sumner, sworn translator at the Grenoble Court of Appeal, SETS has five in-house translators (one British, one French and three dual nationals) and a DTP expert.
Our ethics:
Client satisfaction is at the heart of our company ethos.
For French to English and English to French translations, the work is nearly exclusively carried out by our in-house translators (into their mother-tongue). This provides a guarantee of consistent and optimum quality work. It also allows clients to have direct contact with the translator who is working on their project.
When our clients have needs in other languages, we call on the freelance translators with whom we work regularly. We have made a conscious effort not to call on too many external translators to keep things simple and to be certain of the quality of the work that is supplied by them.
Obtaining a good translation of your texts is obviously essential, but companies often neglect page make-up and presentation and this may create a bad impression. We offer high-quality DTP services that will optimise the impact of your documents, whether you need them translated or not.
Our commitments:
- Responsiveness: We respond to quote requests promptly and do our best to find a solution for all your language combinations thanks to our network of freelance translators.
- Quality: Our translators translate into their mother-tongue and their work is proofread by another professional translator.
- Client follow-up: The fact that our company is human-sized means that our clients always know who they are dealing with and can rest assured that their translation requests are handled with all due care and attention.
- Confidentiality: Regardless of the type of translation requested (certified or not), we guarantee that your documents will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.
- Deadlines: Translations are often the last link in a project and are therefore urgent in most cases. We do our utmost to find the necessary resources to meet your deadlines, and we only accept work that we know we can deliver on time without compromising the quality of our services.
- Honesty: It is our policy to refuse work if we do not feel capable of providing a quality service: if we are not comfortable with the field of expertise or if we know we will not be able to meet the deadline, we will tell you!
Partnership with our clients:
- Glossary: If your company has specific terminology you would like us to respect, please provide us with a glossary and we will be happy to use your in-house terms. A glossary can also come in handy when specific technical terms can have more than one meaning.
- Software: In most cases, we can adapt to the software used to create your document, as we have the latests versions of most editing packages (Office, InDesign, Quark Xpress).
- Traceability: Unless you instruct us otherwise, we always keep a copy of the translations we have done, which can be useful if you need them again in the future or if we have a similar text to translate for you.
- Appropriate rates: We feel that our rates reflect the quality of the service we provide and our employees' expertise.
