Graham Sumner (translator French <=> English): 46 years' experience in translating

BSc in Metallurgy and French from the University of Surrey. Graham first came to Grenoble in 1969 on a year's industrial placement, and moved here permanently in 1971. After having worked as an in-house translator for Sogreah, a world-famous firm of hydraulics consultants based in Grenoble, he went freelance and subsequently created SETS in 1986.


David Bailey (translator French => English): 39 years' experience in translating

MA in Modern Languages from the University of Oxford, David first came to Grenoble in 1973 to work for a year as a language assistant, and has been living here permanently since 1976. He joined Sogreah as an in-house translator in 1979 before going freelance, working closely with Graham Sumner. He joined the SETS team in March 1999.


Suzanne Breant (translator French => English): 24 years' experience in translating

BA in Modern European Studies from Loughborough University of Technology and MA in Translation from the University of Salford. During her studies Suzanne spent a semester each at the universities of Angers (France) and one in Giessen (Germany) as well as completing a short placement at BRGM in Orléans. In 1993 she was named runner-up Best Young Translator at the International Federation of Translators' conference in Brighton. She came to work full-time for SETS in 1994.


Christelle Jalouneix (translator English => French): 22 years' experience in translating

LEA (degree in Modern Languages) from the University of Limoges and DESS (equivalent to an MA) in Translation from the University of Grenoble. Christelle spent a semester at the University of Manchester during her studies, and came to work full-time for SETS in 1996.

Tristan Sumner (translator French <=> English & SETS manager): 9 years' experience in translating

Tristan joined SETS in 2009 and became its manager in April 2011, following his father's semi-retirement (Graham will continue providing translation services and his expertise to the company whenever necessary). Tristan is a Franco-British dual national and has studied in bilingual schools from primary school through to the end of secondary studies. He then graduated from the Grenoble Graduate Business School in 2001 (including a semester in Sweden, where lessons are taught in English). Before joining SETS, he worked for six years as international sales manager for a French snowboard and ski brand, his tasks included translating all business documents and marketing material (website, catalogues, etc.).
